Roseburg Or, (KMTR) Roseburg Police say a man died in a Springfield hospital Sunday, after being punched in the face on a downtown Roseburg sidewalk the day before. They say they know who threw the potentially fatal blow, but haven’t made an arrest.
Witnesses told Investigators they saw 36 year old Michael Keith Oglesby approached 31 year old Jonathan Scott King on Oak St. near the Douglas Inn Saturday night. They say without provocation, Oglesby walked up to King and punched him in the face, knocking him out. King fell to the ground and hit his head. After being rushed to Mercy in Roseburg, King was transported to Sacred Heart, where he died Sunday afternoon.
There’s no question that Oglesby punched King, Police say, but they’re still unsure about King’s exact cause of death. They’re waiting for an autopsy before pressing any charges.
Police say the pair appeared to know each other, but won’t comment on the nature of their relationship, or if Oglesby had a motive to hit King.
