Linn County Sheriff needs help identifying woman found wandering and confused near Albany
ALBANY, Ore. (KMTR) -- On May 15 at about 7:41 PM, the Linn County Sheriff's office was informed an elderly woman had been found wandering around for several hours about four miles east of Albany on Knox Butte Road. The caller reported he had given the her water but she just poured it out. Deputies responded and found the woman walking on Knox Butte Road near Harber Road. Albany Fire Department medics also responded, but she was uncooperative and they could not complete a medical evaluation. She told deputies her name is Katie Walker and her birthday is April 4 but could not provide the year she was born. She also stated that she had hitchhiked from the state of Maine. She appears to be well kept but acted confused and was not cooperative. She had no identification with her when she was found and has not been helpful in providing deputies with information regarding her home or family.
Deputies canvassed the surrounding area nuy have been unable to find anyone who knows the woman. No missing person reports matching her description have been filed with local police agencies.
Based on the circumstances, she was taken in custody for her own protection and is currently receiving medical care at a local hospital. She is approximately 50 to 70 years of age, has blue eyes and shoulder length white hair. She is approximately 5' 2" and 153 pounds. She has a surgery scar on the bottom of her foot and a scar on the base of her neck approximately 4 inches long.
