EUGENE, Ore. (KMTR) -- Public works crews are working to replace 2,000 feet of copper wire stolen from a Eugene bike path.

It happened sometime last week.

Crews were made aware of the theft after someone called to report lights out on the Fern Ridge Path near Danebo.

They said thieves had to remove several one-ton concrete blocks to get to the junction boxes.

Repairs should be complete by Tuesday.
