City has a surplus? Is that why they are trying to close a $6 mil gap with a $10 fee?

Let be real here folks.. There is not a chance in hell this public safety levy will NOT be on the upcoming ballot. This a parade and dance they've been putting on for months. I'm sure there is a phone call put out to the local media every time they schedule their early releases so that EVERYONE will know they are releasing inmates. The city puts their hand in the pot every time they want something else. There is never a case of doing more with less. It's time we make sure the elected city officials know we are not going to give them any more money until they start to control their spending and start LISTENING to the people who pay their paychecks. They work for US. We don't work for them. Our taxes go up year after year well over the "max" 3%... Live with what we give you.
