Don't get sucked in, Lane County voters. That jail has WAY more administrators than it needs. The jail in Roseburg currently houses more inmates than Lane County with less than half the administrators. Rather than give in to their cries for monetary help, force them to cut high paying administrative jobs. Four Sergeants (foremen) and a jail commander is all that is needed. At Lane's jail, you have at least twice the amount of sergeants and four people doing the job of jail commander. Get rid of the waste before giving them any more money. Then have somebody keep track of administrative hiring so that their poor spending habits don't reappear.

Maybe it's time to start putting these offenders to work instead of locking them up. A canvas tent keeps the rain off, and hard work keeps the body plenty warm. Maybe instead of going through an underfunded jail system that can't afford to keep everybody in cells, criminals get to spend their sentences living outdoors doing work that benefits the community they abused. It's already openly stated that the Sheriff simply can't afford to investigate all property crimes, and if offenders are released due to lack of space, what's the deterrent to committing crime?
