Workin 4 U, I don't think there is any theory to it, I think you hit the nail on the head. There is a certain segment of society that thinks they are the only ones that should enjoy a lifestyle that is designed by them. Everyone else becomes their slaves. It is called Progressive Liberals. Sounds sort of like Government, huh?

Here is my conspiricay theory: Build bus lines, make cars to expensive for low and middle class to operate. Thereby the only method of transportation is the bus lines then you can control the people.

So they are going to go at this "project" at snails pace and maybe be done by 2017?!!!!???? What year are we in now??? By then we'll need to start with real live rapid transit. I wonder of the cost to run and maintain these prehistoric creatures....I want a vote!!!!!!!!!!!!

Where ever do they come up with these money figures? Last census there were 150,000 folks living in Eugene. Say that maybe 90,000 of them are registered voters.Postage would run around $37,000. Envelopes less than that..paper that the vote info was printed on.maybe a few thousand bucks.. Far less than the quoted figures in this story..Where do they get $100-500k for cost? I want to see a break down on that one. There have been polls done by a number of news media sources here in Eugene. Those polls showed that the majority of folks do NOT want this EMX .I commend the Lane County Commissioners for thinking about us..the people..

Yes thank the counsel for going against the publics' wishes, at the very least the people should be able to vote, but they fear if it goes to vote the majority would vote against the proposal. We simply don't want that big ole enlongated bus that only has 2 more seats than the regular buses, and lacks less bike carriers. It's contantly in the way, and no reason to have such a lengthly bus. STOP the waste, stop the insanity, the people don't want!

The opposition knows the truth about the West Eugene EmX. This project is about self-preservation for LTD’s administrative staff and their under-funded retirement account. Government may always seem to waste money, but when they waste money and negatively impact a city in doing so, the community will rise-up against them. ODOT and the FTA have grown tired of the City of Eugene after the parkway fiasco, and now LTD’s flawed process and NEPA violating assessment. The FTA has got to know this plan will never be worth the money and impacts. Any lay-person can see that wishful EmX ridership predictions will never offset taking lanes on 6th & 7th, and running 80+ EmX round trips in mixed traffic, through ODOT’s 28th worst state highway choke-points. Yes, the EmX works great on the Franklin route (it’s a glorified school bus), but as Jarrett Walker pointed out, the WEE travels to the edge of town where there is no population mass. The City has not managed LTD correctly. The council never should have told LTD to plan a route on West 11th, there simply isn’t the room. Also note, the EmX bus will block a traffic lane at bus stops at Wendy's and Papa Murphy's.

Angelgabe-----Did you really expect anything else from a liberal establishment. Our marvelous mayor threw out what the voters voted in, the west Eugene bypass, and now we have these 2 bit politicians trying to force other agenda to their liking down our throats. We really need new leadership. We need to get rid of these people and get fresh, responsible, people listening people in place. Got that voters!!!!!!! Get these people out of office!

As I have, and MANY others have said, too: THIS NEEDS TO BE BROUGHT TO A VOTE OF THE PEOPLE! Stop ramming it down our throats against all our wishes. And as said earlier on another story about EMX: I’d like to know how to begin impeachment on all those who voted in favor of this. Even when NO ONE is in favor of this monster of a bus system, they totally disregarded the comments of THE PEOPLE THEY SUPPOSEDLY REPRESENT, and did what THEY wanted. All, in my opinion, for the money they will get from the Federal Government (Uhm, that is coming out of OUR pockets, AGAIN!) We need to fire all of these guys and start over. This is no longer a city that is based on a democracy, but it is a policed state. We have, apparently, NO SAY. Not ONCE did I EVER see ANY pro-EMX literature, posters, banners, etc. It has ALL been negative, and completely against this. I’m furious that this was shoved down our throats against the public’s will and obvious wishes.
