Lane County Budget Committee looks to deliberate and finalize 2012 - 2013 budget

Lane County’s next budget could be approved as early as Thursday evening with a second meeting of the Budget Committee. However, many of the proposed cuts are still up for debate.

I'd be curious to know if they paid their own way. The main thing though is this has nothing to do with the County as they are 2 totally separate budgets. People need to understand the County does not have motor officers, SWAT, special investigative groups, or moving to a a new building. Just FYI.

I struggle a little when I hear, again and again, how our city and county law enforcements have to make cuts because they just don't have the funds. And yet the Eugene Police department seemed to have enough money to send 10 officers to Washington D.C for 5 days, to place a plaque on a monument in Chris Kilcullen's name. Not only is that a lot of money out of their budget but we were also 10 police officers short to work the streets. What is wrong with this picture???
