The Lane County Sheriff's office sends the following message:

Lane County Emergency Management advises that residents should call their local utility - please take time to find the number - regarding downed power lines.

For downed trees, residents should call their local city or county Public Works department regarding trees down on city or county roads or on public right of ways.

If a tree is down on personal property residents should call a commercial tree removal company.

Please do not call 911 for these issues.

Calling 911 overwhelms emergency communications centers and interferes with life-threatening calls for service.

People are so F-ing stupid in this town. They should levy a $100 dollar fine each time a NON emergence call is received by 911..... Only an idiot thinks power off, lines down, computer wont work, snow in the drive way etc..etc is an emergency.
