Some quick questions... when was the last time any one of the above posters (or anyone else opposed for that matter) depended on mass transit to survive? When was the last time you drove across Portland? Ok, questions aside... It used to take almost 2 hours to ride the bus from Springfield to West Eugene, but is only a 15 minute drive.... I rode this scenerio for years before the EMX. Portland can take hours to transverse, but any time of day a MAX train can get you there in minutes. The EMX is laying the groundwork for a future modern high speed transit. Eugene is now the second biggest city in Oregon, NOT Salem. How many want to be trapped in gridlock 10 years from now when it really explodes on us. The federal government isn't paying for it either, that is ridicules, WE as the payers of federal taxes are. Every single person who walks, rides the bus, or rides bikes that I have spoken to want this for Eugene, only the Mercedes/Louis Vuitton/Rolex set that are against it it seems... so, go back to California and sit in traffic and let our little city grow smoothly into a larger city as it is going to anyways, the more we accept this and let it go smoothly, the better all of will be!

Mike Eyster and LTD need to start telling the truth! The only "misinformation" out in the public, is what LTD has provided. LTD claims the West Eugene EmX will reduce traffic congestion, but ALL the district's data is based on the year 2013, EXCLUSIVELY! Yet they claim, that reducing 6th Avenue back to 3 lanes, traffic congestion will be reduced. Currently, less than 5% of the commuters ride transit. How can taking 25% of the roadway (1 out of 4 lanes) reduce traffic, the day after completion and the 20 years up to 2031? The EmX bus will still block a lane of traffic on West 11th, when the bus stops at two bus stops, at Wendy's and Papa Murphy's. LTD just wants the "free" federal money, to feed their bloated administration staff. They are no different than TriMet, in Portland. TriMet is $17 million in the red, and cutting service to feed all the too generous benefits. Oh, and by the way, Eugene is closing four schools, and the County is broke. Ltd's plan is a waste of money, and will make both transit and congestion worst!

So .2% of the population of Eugene was polled and there was only a 20 person vote difference. More to boot that .2% is said to be registered voters LIVING in West Eugene. Nothing about business owners or employees that own/work in shops in West Eugene, but live in a different part of the city. That makes the data completely skewd and inaccurate. If LTD and the city really cared about what the public thinks they would simply put it to a public vote. All the money on PR and "research" would have been put to better use launching a campaign for the upcoming election year or special election.

First of all, surveys and polls can be squed to give any result the giver is looking to get. Second, if "public opinion" is so important, why not put it up for a public vote. (but then again the west eugene parkway was approved twice by voters and we all have seen how much "the will of the people" really means) Third, why is it that just because the federal government is paying for most of this project, people arnt outraged that LTD is proposing spending 90 to 100 million dollars for a "high speed" bus route? Are you kidding me? This country is broke and on our way tward bankrupcy. How close to "the edge of the cliff" are we willing to let politicians take this country before we say ENOUGH! (or simply go over the cliff just like greace did)
