So this guy has been a fugitive for over a year, it took the FBI and a profile on TV to get him..and Tom Turner is even thinking of releasing him before he even gets here? There has got to be some law that Sheriff turner and the DA is breaking by releasing people that they know will re offend, and there has to be some accountability of those two for putting the public in danger by doing this. Eugene Police has a problem with car thefts and burglary..and why are they wasting the time to do anything..Lane county wont lock them up..or even charge them..they will just let them out to do it again. And the county thinks the only answer is raising taxes..and holding the public hostage by releasing dangerous inmates until they get their way. they need to take Eugene, Creswell, cottage Grove, Junction City, Florence, Oakridge, Coburg, Springfield, PLeasant Hill and any other town or city and split the cost between all of them..open the jail and the DA's office back up, put the patrols back in the areas not covered by other local agencies..keep the patrol's out of the city's and towns and off the interstate. Cut out the marina's, campgrounds, parks, county maint crews..those departments can re open when the voters decide they want them back and pay for that..and cut out the other waste spending..like over staffing in some places. It's not a impossible situation to correct, they just have to want to make the hard choices to do it. Increasing the crime rate is no way to fix the problem! What is Lane County going to do when they let out an offender and he goes and hurts or worse kills someone that put them there....by the time the county pays that law suit off..they will be further in the hole.
