JUNCTION CITY, Ore. (KMTR) – Property owner says he found a man living in his storage shed. When he confronted the man, they got into a fight and he ran off.

The Lane County Sheriff's Office is looking for a man who was found living inside a shed near Junction City and believes he'd been stealing wire before he ran off.

The sheriff's office got a call about a burglary around 12:30 PM Monday afternoon and the property owner says he got into a little fight with the suspect.

David Magee says he was driving by his property on Meadowview Road in Junction City when he noticed a trail leading to a storage shed. He pulled over, went up to it and says it appears the man inside had been staying there. Lane County, Junction City Police and Oregon State Police all responded trying to find the man. Before they got there, Magee says he tried to get inside the building to get the man out, but couldn't.

"He had locked it from the inside,” said Magee. “Since I couldn't get in I put a piece of wire through so he couldn't get out. So then he eventually broke the door open and we had a little scuffle. I pushed him down a couple times just trying to get him to stay here until police got here and then he had left.

The sheriff’s office is looking for Jason Mekech, 43, who is 6’ tall and weights about 175 pounds. If you see him or know where he is, you’re asked to call 541 682-4141.
