Eugene (KMTR) - It's it's now up to a jury to decide if a Springfield woman killed her baby and disposed of the body.

Closing arguments were made Thursday in the Angelica Swartout case.

Swartout's attorneys have raised questions about whether she was even pregnant, and Swartout claims she faked it.

Prosecutors say she is lying, and point to the number of times she has changed her story and her police confession.

If Swartout is found guilty she could be facing 25 years to life in prison, or life in prison without parole.

As someone who personally knows the sister of the accused. (actually the same sister who turned her in) Let me answer your question: An innocent baby was murdered..that's why! The woman I know, told me personally that she, along with a second sister, actually felt the moving baby in her sister Angela's belly a short time before she gave birth. She and her other sister did not hate their sister Angela. In fact, they loved her. You have no idea the amount of pain and anguish they went through tesifying against their sister for this horrific crime. However their conscience would not allow them to sit by and say nothing knowing what she had done.I have no doubt in my mind as to the credibility of the woman I know. She knew her sister Angela was, without a doubt, pregnant. You do not "mistake" putting your hand on your sister's belly and feeling a full term baby moving. It is not something that can be faked. There was absolutely no reason why she would lie about something like that. Unfortunately the defense was able to put enough doubt into the jury's minds that, now..on 06/01 the second jury has aquitted her for what they believe lack of evidence. It is a travesty of justice that this murderer went free. However; even though they ultimately decided incorrectly, my taxes paid for this as well..and they did need to see it to conclusion. It was in no way vindictive or elitest. Unfortunately the jurors came to the wrong verdict and failed that poor little baby.
