JUNCTION CITY, Ore. (KMTR) -- The Junction City High School girls basketball team hit the road to Corvallis Wednesday for the State Championship Tournament. Dozens of community members gathered for their grand sendoff.

The girls got on the road at about 1:15 p.m., but not before taking lots of pictures, and getting pumped up from the band's loud music and some major encouragement from the community and, of course, their fellow classmates. The school's principal was on the megaphone during the whole event, and he told the girls to get their game faces on.

Senior forward, Christina Puderbaugh says her team is ready, and can't wait for tip-off.

“We've been waiting so long, working so hard in practices, and building up to this,” says Puderbaugh.  “To finally get to say we’re in the top 8 in the state, and getting to go to Gill, this is what everyone works for. We get to say that we did it!”

The girls' bus was promenaded through town, escorted by the Junction City Fire Department and Police Department. Sirens blazed as the girls were literally cheered out of town, on their way to play hoops at Oregon State's Gill Coliseum.

The 4A Quarter Finals Tournament started Wednesday. The Tigers will play the number one seeded Sutherlin Bulldogs for their first round, starting at 8:15 p.m Wednesday
