JUNCTION CITY, Ore. (KMTR) -- Junction City Police have arrested a man they suspect may be linked to a recent burglary spree at a number of businesses in Junction City.
After following tips from the public, Junction City Police arrested the man Wednesday night at 952 Holly Street. Once he was in custody, the officers uncovered more evidence, leading to a break in another case involving multiple burglaries.
The investigation is still on-going so police couldn't get too specific, but the evidence was enough for the officers to work through the night, go to the District Attorney this morning and get a search warrant for the man's residence.
Once inside the suspect's home, they uncovered items they believe link the suspect to multiple burglaries in town.
"We received some information, so obviously we had probable cause to believe, based upon earlier contact at this residence, that there [were] some stolen items in the house," said Officer Mark Chase, Junction City Police Chief. "Today, we were able to uncover some of that; we don't know how much. There's probably a couple dozen bags inside the house right now that they're loading up the stolen stuff in."
B & I Hardware in Junction City was burglarized back in August and again earlier this week. Police are finding a lot of items stashed throughout the home they believe came from the hardware store. There are also multiple DVDs they think may have been stolen from a video store in town earlier this summer.
Police say they've already filled dozens of bags with stolen items and they're still searching. Once they confirm the thefts, they hope to return merchandise to the business owners in the coming months.
