The Frank Cross that I got to know as a student at the college was a well spoken, good hearted, understanding, sympathetic, patient and well humored man. My utmost sympathies to his wife and children.

He was my neighbor. The Cross family have been kind neighbors to all of us here. I am deeply saddened by the news. Always be kind and love all your family and neighbors. Always extend a helping hand. This is truly devastating.

I am also a student of his at Umpqua Community College. This is devastating for us all. He was one of the most understanding and caring teachers I have had in my many years at U.C.C. and he will be missed. My heart goes out to his family and friends, as well as fellow students who knew him well like we all did. He spoke highly of his family and always made things fun and exciting. I wish there was a way to know where his funeral will be held so that I can attend so I may give my condolences to his family. RIP Frank, we all will miss you at U.C.C.

I am one of Frank's students also. He will be so missed by all of us. He made the most boring subjects fun. He was the most understanding and compassionate person. His loss is huge, and felt by everyone that knew him. My thoughts and love go out to his family, he spoke of them in class all the time. RIP Frank, your loss will be felt by many.

I am also one of his students. I really am sad for his family. He spoke of them often. He was truely a great teacher. I was looking forward to many more classes with him. Nothing can ease the pain his family feels but I will be praying for them.

This man's relatives in the Midwest are people I know well -- they are a truly wonderful, amazing family who are very close and have had so many challenges recently. They do not deserve this; no one does. Such a tragedy, especially during a time we should all be counting our blessings.

This is shocking, Frank was my instructor at Umpqua Community College in Roseburg, we were in class yesterday when the school announced the class was canceled, that was 10am. At about 2pm in another class, it was announced that he had died, but there were no details. Although Frank had only joined the staff at UCC this term, he was a really nice guy and will be missed. We had lots of computer problems in the class and he never got angry or mad (the problems weren't Franks), Frank had an excellent attitude! He will be greatly missed at UCC. I know all of the students at UCC want to extend this sincere condolences to Frank's Family.

apology accepted rgl1345, I have a friend that lives in the area and was worried. Crazy things happening, there has to be something in the world that people out there can be thankful for.....come on people try.....is it all worth it to harm another person? I guess that we have forgotten how to treat one another....all the pointless ways peoples lives have been taken from them and their families.....what kind of a world have we become?

rgl1345-I was just commenting that the media report did not state that a cell phone was found. Nor did they say if this was male or female. You must live close by to the scene. No reason to get nasty.....again just very sad
