CORVALLIS, Ore. (KMTR) -- The thief may have a tough time fencing what was stolen from an Oregon State University van Saturday night: a Satlantic brand hyperpro radiometer in a five-foot-long case, along with a five-foot-long cooler that holds the cable for the hyperpro radiometer.

The stolen items are scientific instruments used to measure the clarity of ocean water, valued at about $75,000. Finding someone who even knows what the instrument is could be difficult.

Corvallis police are investigating the theft; they are asking anyone who may have information to contact Officer Taylor Lawrence at (541) 766-6924.
