ROSEBURG, Ore. (KMTR) –- An intense fire caused damage to two homes early Monday morning in Roseburg.

A neighbor on West Nebo Street called 911 about 4:30 AM when she noticed the house across the street was on fire. When firefighters arrived, they found the rear porch fully involved with the fire extending into the house. The blaze was so intense that it melted the siding on the house next door.

The person who lives in the house was not home at the time. A pet dog escaped, as did a pet cat. A pet rabbit did not survive; the cat needed veterinary care.

Investigators say the cause of the fire is not certain, but a heat lamp was located near where the fire started.

Damage to the home was estimated at $85,000. The neighboring house suffered $5,000 in damage.

When I watched this last night it looked like the video showed the dead bunny. I watched the video twice and saw it both times. Was this intentional? I hope not because it was beyond disturbing.
