EUGENE, Ore. (KMTR) -- A bicyclist was killed by a hit-and-run driver in south Eugene late Saturday night. Lane County Sheriff Deputies are looking for a 2000 or later model Ford passenger car, possibly a station wagon, which has front-end and possibly windshield damage and a damaged or missing side mirror.
A severely-injured 54-year-old man was found by motorists around 11 PM on East 30th Avenue near Forest Boulevard. The victim, who has not yet been identified, was taken to a hospital where he later died.
A witness said the cyclist was found lying in the roadway with his damaged bicycle nearby. Someone stopped to help him when another passing car hit the injured man. Deputies say the driver of the white Ford that initially struck the bicycle rider left the scene after the crash.
Anyone with information about this incident or the involved vehicle is asked to contact the Lane County Sheriff’s Office at 541 682-4141.
