EUGENE, Ore. (KMTR) -- The Lane County Sheriff's Office has identified a Springfield woman killed in a car crash on River Road Thursday night between Eugene and Junction City. Investigating deputies say the SUV she was driving was speeding before it hit a power pole and rolled several times.

The only person in the car, 26-year-old Morgan Tara Marie Smither, died in the crash.

Minutes before the crash around 8:45 PM, several people called to report an SUV speeding northbound on River Road near Spring Creek Drive. Deputies say Smither sped passed several cars and lost control around a curve near Brown's Landing. The car hit a power pole, shearing it off and then the SUV rolled several times, landing back on the roadway.

An air ambulance was called in but medics confirmed Smither had died.

Investigators say excessive speed was the main factor in the crash.

I read the other comments about this mother having a baby. I have milk too if the baby needs it.

My best friend just had a baby on Nov 23rd and she has been in the hospital since then with preeclampsia. She just got to go home today to be with her precious baby but is devastated that she has a condition called tubular breast and won't get any milk. She is looking for someone to donate milk to her. If you are willing please email me stephanie.tennille@gmail.com
