Groups protest Eugene's downtown public safety zone as possible renewal approaches

Once again we here about criminals released because of lack of jail space. This is the problem, creating a safety zone is just a half azzed fix. Instead of the new multi million dollar police station, they should build more jail space. Cops are supposed to be on the streets, not hanging around a fancy police station. What does it matter if criminals are banned from certain streets - the problem is that they're on THE street.

Dear Todd. I hate to break this to you at this late stage in your life, but in any normal society “respect, respect, respect” is earned, earned, earned! And the normal members of that society have the right to create rules and laws to protect themselves and others from the lawless, sociopathic and criminal elements that would prey upon them. So, earn your place in society by being a good member of it. Or, be excluded. It’s YOUR choice, not ours………
