EUGENE, Ore. (KMTR) -- After an off-day Wednesday at Hayward Field, TrackTown 12 competition starts back up on Thursday and with it, a continuation of one program that’s recycling the tickets of those who can’t go and giving them to those who might not be able to afford it.
The U.S.A. Olympic Team Track & Field Trials have brought thousands of people in to Eugene from all over the U.S. to watch some spectacular displays of athleticism.
However, city leaders are still trying to get local residents to the event and making sure all incomes are included in the festivities.
Eugene’s Recreation Services Division has a TrackTown 12 ticket donation program it is still using as the trials begin to wrap up in Eugene.
Anyone who has a ticket that they can’t use for the event can give it to the city of Eugene program. In turn, they’ll donate those tickets to individuals and families through local non-profits and service organizations.
So far, the program has had about 200 ticket donation inquires from people. It is has distributed those tickets to financially challenged individuals and families.
“This is such a unique and exciting way to provide people access and I think that, you know, knowing that a community member gets a chance to see the world's best athletes at Historic Hayward Field is truly rewarding … that's an amazing experience we want to provide to everyone,” says Kim McManus, a supervising manager for Eugene’s Recreation Division.
The Trials pick back up on Thursday, July 28th, 2012. If you have a ticket you want to donate, email the following address with your contact information and the number of tickets you have:

If you absolutely can’t get in to Hayward Field, the Fan Festival is free to attend and there are monitors inside to watch the events.
The festival opens back up on Thursday at 2 p.m, behind Hayward Field.
