WESTFIR, Ore. (AP) - Former Westfir city recorder Elizabeth Murray has been accused of embezzling more than $11,000 during a one-year period.
Oakridge police arrested the 54-year-old on charges of theft, forgery, official misconduct and possession of a forged instrument.
The case has been forwarded to the Lane County District Attorney's office.
Oakridge Police Chief Louis Gomez said Monday the investigation began when Westfir city workers found irregularities in the general ledger following Murray's departure from the job in May.
The Oakridge Police Department is under contract to serve as the main police agency in the 340-person city.
