Blue River (KMTR) – A fast-moving fire destroyed part of the Holiday Farm Resort on the McKenzie River early Monday morning.

The fire started around 2:45 a.m. in the restaurant building; a neighbor first reported seeing an orange glow through the trees.  The first firefighters to arrive found the building fully involved and called for extra help.  It took between an hour ad 90 minutes to contain the blaze.  Upper McKenzie's Fire Chief said there are no hydrants in the area, and crews ran out of water a couple times.

The manager of the resort said that although the restaurant and office were destroyed, the individual cabins were not damaged, so the resort will continue to operate.

There was no obvious cause of the fire. The Oregon State Fire Marshal’s office will be investigating to determine how it started.
