ROSEBURG, Ore. (KMTR) -- Over the past several weeks, the City of
Roseburg has been getting calls from people, inquiring about a company called Roseburg Title Services. The company in not real and the city wants to warn people about the scam.
The company has been targeting people with timeshares in Mexico, telling them they owe hundreds, or even thousands, of dollars.
Roseburg Title Service claims to be located at 1600 Garden Valley Boulevard, but there is no such company at that address. At RoseburgTitles.com, you'll find a very legitimate-looking website, complete with contact information and employment opportunities. They even claim to have 45 years experience.
The City of Roseburg says people called in from all over the US.
"These people had been instructed by a Tyson Miller, associated with that company, to wire them money for time share property transfers," says Debi Davidson, acting City Recorder.
They followed up on the inquiries and found that the company was not registered with the city. Tyson Miller has also been associated with two other phony title companies, Southwest Properties Inc., claiming to be in Arizona and Cortez and Associates, claiming to be in New Mexico.
Roseburg has received about a half a dozen calls about the business. One woman says Tyson Miller wanted her to send him more than $20,000.
