SPRINGFIELD, Ore. (KMTR) -- A man wanted for attempted murder in a 2011 Lane County shooting has been taken into custody in California by the FBI.

26-year-old David Allen Friend was arrested by FBI agents on Tuesday night, December 18th, 2012, in Moreno Valley, California, near Los Angeles in Riverside County.

The Lane County Sheriff's Office has been looking for Friend since July 2011 following a shooting on Harbor Drive, just outside of the Springfield city limits.

According to the Lane County Sheriffs Office, Friend and his brother Nicholas Friend assaulted a man they didn't know at a home on Harbor Drive. Investigators say Friend then shot the man in the chest.

The case was featured twice on America's Most Wanted. In a reenactment of the crime, Friend and his brother allegedly beat up the victim because of a 12-year-old child. In the depiction of the crime, the male victim had met a long-lost female cousin at random in a Springfield bar. The cousins then went back to the female cousin's home on Harbor Drive. Later in the night, the female cousin's 12-year old son arrived home. The 12-year-old then got in a fight with his mother and left the home.

According to the reenactment, the 12-year-old was allegedly drunk, having been given alcohol by the Friend brothers. Later, the Friend brothers returned to the Harbor Drive home, beating up and shooting the male victim.

Nicholas Friend ended up turning himself in. He is now serving a 7-year sentence for his role in the crime. David Friend has been on the run since the shooting.

According to the FBI, Friend was arrested this week without incident. FBI officials say Friend had been living with people in Riverside County, where he has ties.

Friend is now being held at the Robert Presley Detention Center in Riverside County, California, where he is awaiting extradition. Friend is being held on a federal warrant for unlawful flight to avoid prosecution. The FBI says it is anticipated that federal authorities will dismiss the federal warrant though.

In Lane County, Friend is charged with burglary, assault, assault with a firearm, attempted murder with a firearm and interfering with making a report.

Eventually, Friend will be taken to the Lane County Jail.
