Eugene (KMTR) - Police say a woman woke up to find a man touching her face early Wednesday morning.

It happened at about 2:30am Wednesday in the 1800 Block of High Street.

Police received a call from the female victim who told them she woke to the burglar touching her face.  She said the suspect then fled through the bedroom window, taking a cell phone, laptop, and other items belonging to the victim.  Investigators say the window is how the burglar first entered the residence.

The suspect is described as a white male with a pale complexion, approximately 6’02” tall; 220 lbs, a heavy build, and brown hair. At the time of the incident he was seen wearing a dark jacket and dark pants.

Police responded and searched the area, locating personal property of the victim near a small fence adjacent to the apartment.

Investigators are asking that anyone with information contact the Eugene Police Department tip line at 541.682.8888.

Police say the the incident should also serve as a reminder for both personal and home safety to ensure that all windows and doors are equipped with locking mechanisms, and property is kept out of the view of windows.

So it's her fault for not locking the Window!!!! Hog wash! I wish she would have pulled out her pistol and killed the guy and she would have been well within her rights to do so! She was very lucky, but she will be tramitized for the rest of her life.

Horrifying! This is why all my windows and doors have sturdy locks and magnet alarms, motion-sensing outdoor lighting, good visibility from the road, and a close relationship with neighbors. These steps are cheap and very effective. I also have a home security system, with signs advertising it.
