EUGENE, Ore. (KMTR)-
As we get closer to Veterans Day, a barber in Eugene is honoring veterans the best way she knows how. Teresa Lane says she remembers the first time she offered to cut a veteran's hair for free, and how honored he was. He even brought her a flag to put up outside her shop.
Teresa owns "Slow Lane Barbershop" in South Eugene. This is her second year providing free haircuts to Veterans on the holiday. Lane does not have a family member in the military, but many of her customers are Veterans, and she believes they deserve a lot more credit than they're given.
“Honestly I don't think people appreciate them as much as they should, especially the younger people. They don't realize if it wasn't for them they might still not have their freedom,” says Lane. Lane says four of her regular customers are WWII vets. She also has a couple of Vietnam War vets, and quite a few young military members. Teresa will offer free haircuts to Veterans from 10:00am to 6:00pm on Veterans Day. She’ll have coffee and cookies out as well.
