Eugene (KMTR) - Lights and sirens filled the Shopko parking lot Sunday for the annual Toys for Tots collection event. Families dropped off new or unused gifts to donate to local children in need and got to take a spin in fire trucks, ambulances and other vehicles.
Inside the store, members of the local U.S. Marine Corps branch went on a shopping spree to buy items for older kids. They had about $4,500 to spend, collected in various fundraisers throughout the year. Gifts purchased and collected today will be distributed to children in need throughout Lane County December 14 and 15.
