EUGENE, Ore. (KMTR) -- FROM EUGENE POLICE

Police respond to suspicious device call

Eugene Police and the Metro Explosives Disposal Unit responded to University District Hospital after a man claiming to have a suspicious device arrived in the emergency room lobby. He is in custody. Patients and staff have been evacuated to a safe area. 13th and Hilyard are closed to traffic and ambulances have been diverted to other local hospitals while MEDU investigates further and takes safety precautions with the man's belongings.
