EUGENE, Ore. (KMTR) -- The city council will vote Monday whether to adopt an ordinance banning single-use plastic bags from local retailers. The ban is designed to encourage consumers to carry reusable bags,= and would include a five-cent pass-through fee on paper bags.
City staff made some revisions to the proposed ordinance recently to include banning thicker plastic bags typically used in department stores.
The council meeting is at 7:30 PM at the Eugene Public Library and there will be time for public comment before councilors vote.
