"Sometimes God allows people to get into that position so that they will finally listen to him. " ----- Thank you for demonstrating that you are in no way qualified to address this issue.

People turning to crime for survival is simply not true. Those I have interviewed prior to citing them or jailing them leads me to this conclusion. Many young people as far as Missouri have admitted to me that an internet search had led them to Eugene because of the social services. Going hungry in Eugene is an impossiblity. Crime levels remain roughly the same during during a recession. Check the stats before posting ignorance or poorly formed opinion.

When people fall into the situation, that puts them in desperate situations, which could cause some of these folks turn to crime for their survival. Many are raised homeless by now and are adults usually without a proper education, care, and ethical behaviors.I think we would be filling less jail beds if people aren't wandering around with nothing constructive to do....

If you keep spending money on them, they will keep coming back. Either ignore them or load them on buses and drive them out of town. Charity is the church's responsibility, not the government's. Sometimes God allows people to get into that position so that they will finally listen to him. These people should be looking to Godly rescue missions and not this ungodly, socialist city government.

Another reason the city council and this idiotic mayor need to be thrown out of office. If you're going to spend my tax dollars, give me a damn vote!

How about assistance for the schools...most of these people have thrown their life away and spending my money on them is not something that makes me happy. They need to choose families first that are homeless....Children are more important than the drunk idiots on the street.

First things that are most important is others lives-especially those children who are innocently homeless not by their fault. I'm a taxpayer and this is the season for giving, not consumer fueled black Fridays'. Please try to have some compassion for the less fortunate, do an act of random kindness, and maybe the world will follow.

It must be alot of fun for the city council to spend taxpayers dollars without the taxpayers being asked what they would like done with any extra money they seem to magically find in the city coffers.

We can give $ to support the homeless, but no $ to help fund jail beds?
