Eugene (KMTR) - Eugene Police have arrested an 18-year-old after he had engaged in sexual contact with a minor from Facebook.
Police were called to the home of a 12-year-old female when an instance of sexual contact was uncovered between the victim and 18-year-old Brandon Chambers.
Officers say Chambers had reached out to the victim through Facebook accounts where they sent more than 1,000 messages, many of a sexual nature beginning in mid-August of this year. Police say Chambers claimed to have former connections with a mentoring program in Portland that increased the victim's trust of his character.
After more than a month of online contact the victim and Chambers met in person where Chambers allegedly engaged in inappropriate sexual contact with the 12-year-old juvenile.
Officers and violent crimes detectives investigated the incident and on November 9, took Chambers into custody on charges of Sexual Abuse, and Online Sexual Corruption.
Investigators are continuing to look into the possibility of any additional victims and are asking that anyone with information contact Detective Dan Braziel at 541.682.5836.
