I'm finaly glad they are moving. The long haired guy with glasses told the council to listen to the 150, THEY HAVE!!!. That is why you have all that crap. They are now listening to the thousands that say enough is enough. This letter is interesting to me. A lot of focus is put on EPD and how they are gearing up for an assault. Occupy had a deadline of next month and they start building more talking about expanding at the park. There never was intention to leave. Betty Taylor - Its this simple they leave when they are told. If THEY protest, THEY THEMSELVES made that choice to not cooperate and THEY will get get arrested. If THEY resist, THEY get gassed, peppersprayed, or even tased. THEY made that choice knowing full well what might happen. The sad part is EPD has to face the diseases and stuff these people carry. Maybe George Brown and Betty can let them stay at their place and camp in their yards if they are so concerend????

You're right, words and sit-ins are not enough to effect change, votes serve no purpose when every politician is already bought and paid for. Nothing will change the status quo short of a revolution. Of course they won't let it get that far, that would defeat the point of crashing the stock market in the first place.

"Republicans have proposed that the payroll tax cut be paid for with an extension of a pay freeze for federal workers, changes to civilian federal retiree benefits and other reforms, including gradual increases in Medicare health premiums for the elderly. They have also sought to tie the payroll tax extension - a key component of President Barack Obama's $447 billion set of proposals to boost hiring - to the approval of TransCanada's Keystone XL pipeline, which would transport Canadian oil to Texas."

Nearly half of the members of Congress (46 percent) were millionaires in 2009, according to the required financial disclosure forms. Only 1 percent of all Americans are millionaires, according to data analyzed by the Center for Responsive Politics. So inside the Capitol dome, the much-vilified “one percenters” lampooned by the protesters as champagne-swilling, stogie-chomping elites are just kinda ordinary. In fact, in the Senate, counting oneself among the nation’s top 1 percent makes you only, well, just an average schmo. The median net worth in that august body is a whopping $2.4 million. (The figure for the House is a paltry $725,000, just a tad above the poverty line.) And while there are plenty of ways to reckon who numbers among the nation’s upper percentages, there are plenty of indisputably flush folks wearing member pins. Consider Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.), the richest guy in Congress. He’s worth somewhere between $156 million and $451 million. Sen. John F. Kerry (D-Mass.), who is the second-richest, has assets that could be as high as $294 million. Even the 20th-ranking congressional fat cat, Rep. Kenny Marchant (R-Tex.), may be worth as much as $63 million.

The following is an argument for self governance. "Even under the best forms of government those entrusted with power have, in time, and by slow operations, perverted it into tyranny." - Thomas Jefferson "Every government degenerates when trusted to the rulers of the people alone. The people themselves are its only safe depositories." -Thomas Jefferson "The care of human life and happiness, and not their destruction, is the first and only object of good government." - Thomas Jefferson "Leave no authority existing not responsible to the people."- Thomas Jefferson

Our government is flawed, it's representatives corrupt, it's practices outdated and ineffectual, it's laws unjust, it's education, economy, and infrastructure in ruins, It policy subject to influence from special intrest groups and lobbyists. Lady liberty has become a gluttonous hwore trading her soul for coin. Can you imagine a country without elections run directly by it's citizens? Can you imagine if our schools got everything they needed to educate our children? Can you imagine the savings if our armed forces delt exclusively with the defense of our borders? Do we really need to be spending a TRILLION on defense when 50% of our citizens are at or below the poverty line? REALLY?

Our government exists at OUR discretion. When we chose a government of reperesentatives it was out of necessity, the only form of long distance communication was the postal service. It is my belief that we are fully capable of governing ourselves in this day and age via direct votes of the citizens over the internet. Imagine this: A government by the people, for the people. We could replace the three braches of Gov. with the incorruptable majority vote of the American people. You would recieve several votes a day in the form of a yes/no question. For example: Do you want to want to go to war with______? or Would you like to increase minimum wage? or Would you like to give Congress yet another "cost of living adjustment"? We must realize the men who put this government in place rode horses to work down dirt streets and owned slaves! Times have changed! It's high time our form of governance evolved as well. Who can We The People trust to make decisions in our best intrest? Only ourselves

It's also ironic how one of their meetings/seminars is called 'Cop Watch'...WTF?? If you were not doing something 'Illegal' or 'Unsavory' why would you need to watch for cops???...I am GRATEFUL to have our police walking my beat! And it sounds like to me, if one of our Great Eugene Police were not there last night, one of you own would have died, while none of you we're administering CPR...To see policemen in my neighborhood, I am even MORE thank Thankful. Thank you EPD, Doing your best even without the Mayor's support! Wishing you all safety, and a blessed Christmas with your families... <3
