EUGENE, Ore. (KMTR) -- Thanks to an annual swim meet, a popular pool will be closed for one of the hottest weekends this year. Amazon Pool is hosting the Team Summer Open for hundreds of kids and teenagers. It happens every year on the weekend following the Fourth of July.
People will be redirected to Echo Hollow Pool Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Typically, both Sheldon and Echo Hollow Pools are available for the overflow but Sheldon is out due to construction.
Echo Hollow will be offering two-for-one deals through the July 8th. Tickets for children are $3.25; adults are $3.75. For those prices, however, two people will be allowed in.
"Bring your sunblock, the sun will be pretty strong," laughed Rich Fay,Aquatics Section Manager for Eugene. "Echo Hollow is a great old pool."
He told NewsSource 16 one of the advantages of Echo Hollow is that it not only offers an outdoor pool but also an area that is under some shade.
Echo Hollow Pool will be open for recreational swimming Saturday 1 PM until 5 PM and Sunday 1:10 PM to 3:40 PM.
