Eugene (KMTR) – The American Red Cross is helping two people after the mobile home they lived in went up in flames in west Eugene. The firefighters who responded say the home on Highway 99N near Royal Avenue was destroyed.

The call came in at 4:30 Monday morning. By the time the first fire crews got there, the home was engulfed by fire.

“We verified that the occupants had exited the structure and then we commenced defensive operations to put the fire out, said Eugene District Fire Chief Craig Shelby. “It was under control within 20 minutes.”

Firefighters had to truck in water to knock down the flames.

The two residents were not hurt. The Red Cross is providing them with three nights at a local motel as well as food and clothing.
