ALBANY, Ore. (KTMR) - Valuable items from the early 1900s were found in the bricks of Central School during the time of construction.

Crews working on Central School's seismically sound improvements found an old leather football, a rubber baseball and glove, and a note from a parent dated 1949 excusing a student from classes.

Jim Haggart, executive assistant to the Albany School District, told NewsSource 16 he did some research and found the 1912-1913 University of Oregon game against Oregon State University was played at the field next door.

Contractors have said they will keep the items for now. They plan to encase them behind glass for future generations to see and learn about the history.
