Umm... since when has this NOT been the case in Washington-Jefferson Park? I'd say that the park, as a whole, is MUCH safer with the Occupy folks there. What Kerns and company are actually concerned about is that Occupy Eugene has become about homeless people taking their power as humans back from the cops and various social service agencies that serve the poor; e.g., it is about maintaining class privilege. And as for EPD spokepeople... do you know how to tell when a Eugene cop is lying? The lips move.

On top of everything in the reports, OE has also actively hidden runaways. "Leadership" of OE denies this however the individuals camping represent OE and they have actively hidden them so it amounts to the same thing. I don't doubt that there are people who have good intentions however that camp is unsafe for all in it and for the community and most importantly for the children in it. The fact that the "leadership" doesn't have control is just an even bigger red flag for me and should be for everyone else. I have never felt the need to hide my face no matter what my opinion. ANyone that hides their face and then tries to convince you they are in the right is blowing smoke. If they didn't know on SOME LEVEL that their actions were wrong, they would never hide. Protest to your heart's content. I have no issue with that. Camping should no longer be an option and frankly never should have been in the first place. Our right to free speech comes with a responsibility as well...a responsibility that OE is sorely failing in. Do no harm OE and until you take that seriously stop wasting the taxes the rest of us have given to the city. You are hurting those whom you profess to want to help. Figure it out.
