ROSEBURG, Ore. (KMTR) -- Firefighters and paramedics in Roseburg are soon going pink in support of Breast Cancer Awareness month.

Douglas County Fire District Number 2 crews will be sporting some new uniforms for the entire month of October. The firefighters and paramedics will wear shirts with pink lettering and the breast cancer pink ribbon. They're also selling the shirts to the public as a fundraiser for the Treva Hoffman foundation.

All proceeds will go to local breast cancer patients and their families and toward cancer research.

“Where the emphasis comes with the guys is, obviously, they work for the community, for one,” says Fire Marshal Josep Pedrola. “Second, everybody around has got a sister, a wife, a friend that may benefit from this research one day or another. So, that was part of the whole emphasis on things staying local as much as possible.”

The shirts are just $15. You can order one by stopping by any of the Douglas County Fire District 2 stations, the District Headquarters in Roseburg or by calling 541 673-5503 throughout October.
