COTTAGE GROVE, Ore. (KMTR) -- A motorcyclist from Dorena was killed Wednesday in a head-on crash with a pickup truck in south Lane County. Michael Duncan Mellor, 63, was airlifted to a hospital after the crash, but he did not survive.
Oregon State Police troopers say shortly after 4 PM he lost control of his motorcycle and sidecar entering a curve near Dorena Lake on Shoreview Drive near Gillespie Road. The cycle crossed the center line and collided with an oncoming pickup truck.
The driver of the pickup, a 19-year-old Dorena man, was also injured but not seriously. A passenger in the pickup was not hurt.
