EUGENE, Ore. (KMTR) -- Heavy rains left several streets covered in high water late Monday and early Tuesday. In Eugene, much of the localized flooding was due to storm drains clogged with leaves. Most roads were open by around 7 AM Tuesday, but crews continued to pick up leaves to prevent more problems.

In Springfield, residents in the most severely affected areas could not access their homes. Crews redirected storm water flow to larger basins so residents could get on and off their properties safely. Public works representatives say the best way citizens can help ahead of time is by keeping leaves away from storm drains. That can help prevent flooding and leave fewer problems for crews to clean up.
