Closing Creswell airport is terribly ill advised for many reasons. Continuing the war-zone hostilities there is also bad for everyone. It is time for everyone to step back, take a deep breath, and begin to seek consensus on a win-win solution. This will require letting go of past hurts, slights, and agendas. One possible solution might be to locate a landing zone on property to the north east of the runway, with access back to the airport under the approach end of runway 15. Make the traffic pattern for 15 right hand, so that landing aircraft will not conflict with descending skydivers. All aircraft traffic would be on the west side of the airport, and skydiving on the east side. This arrangement would also eliminate the need for skydivers to cross the tarmac of an active runway. I bet the land could be purchased or leased for a whole lot less than the cost of attorneys.
