TERREBONNE, Ore. (AP) — A 14-year-old boy is dead and his 21-year-old cousin is in custody after a bullet ripped through the wall of a motor home where the boy was sleeping and struck him in the head.
Crook County Sheriff Rodd Clark says Brandon Hornseth of Lonepine was arrested Monday night on suspicion of first-degree manslaughter in the death of Justin Butler of Culver.
Butler and his family were hunting at the family ranch in Terrebonne when gunshots rang out early Sunday. Those inside in the motor home turned on the lights and discovered the teen had been fatally shot.
Authorities say they don't believe the shooting was intentional.
Hornseth also faces charges of reckless endangering and pointing a firearm at another.
He's in custody at the Crook County Jail.
