Coos Bay (KMTR) – The Coos County Sheriff’s Office began evacuating residents along the Coos River on Millicoma Road, about 13 miles east of Coos Bay Thursday morning.

The evacuation was started at the request of the Oregon Department of Transportation.

The evacuated residents were asked to find their own shelter, if possible, while a suitable emergency shelter location is found.

ODOT has shut down Coos River Highway (U.S. Highway 241) between mileposts 13 and 19.
