COOS BAY, Ore. (KMTR) -- The Coos Bay School District needs help getting kids ready for the fall. It’s kicking off Operation Backpack campaign, a donation program to provide school supplies, basics and clothing for needy children. Acceptable donations include everything from backpacks, paper and pencils to toothpaste, shampoo, even sweatpants and underwear for the little ones who have accidents while at school.

The donations will be handed out to schools in the district and nurses will keep hygiene products in stock until those need to be distributed as well.

If you’d like to contribute, you can drop items off at the district office at 1255 Hemlock Avenue, Coos Bay. Or if you’d rather have someone else do the shopping for you, you can write a check payable to Coos Bay School District and note Operation Backpack in the memo line.
