Coos Bay (KMTR) - The superintendent of Coos Bay schools has some big plans for her district, after getting through some major funding cuts. Dawn Granger has only been in Coos Bay for about eight months. In the past year, Coos Bay closed an elementary school, changed to a four-day school week, and reconfigured the district. She says administrators are still working through ways to improve the new system, but many teachers are responding well to the four-day week.
Moving ahead, Granger wants to get students more prepared for college, and work with local businesses to get kids experience in the workplace on their Fridays off from class.
