Coburg (KMTR) - The mayor of Coburg has announced her resignation.
Judy Volta has been Coburg's mayor for more than eight years, having served on the city council before that.
In a letter to the citizens of Coburg, Volta said, "...after careful consideration and much prayer, I am stepping aside as mayor of the City of Coburg effective April 10, 2012. I am confident that with our present leadership, our city's work can continue and thrive."
In her letter, Volta gave no specific reason for her resignation, although she said she would continue to be involved in volunteer work in the community.
Volta told NewsSource 16 that she had been thinking about this for a long time and that this seemed a good time to turn the city's leadership over to someone else, and that the current city council is well able to handle the city's affairs.
