Brownsville (KMTR)- Fire investigators have determined the cause of a fire that destroyed a Brownsville café.

The historic Corner Cafe on Main Street burned late Tuesday night.

Investigators on Thursday told NewsSource 16 that the fire was caused by an electrical problem inside with a cooler.

The building itself was constructed in 1878.  It was the only building left standing after a fire in the heart of downtown in the early 19-hundreds.

Fire investigators say the portion of the building that burned on Tuesday night can be saved.
