COTTAGE GROVE, Ore. (KMTR) -- A hub for customer service phone calls could be coming to Cottage Grove. City leaders are talking about bringing a new call center to town.
John Stadter, owner of First Call Resolution in Roseburg, wants to expand into Cottage Grove. He has his eye on the Village Center shopping mall on Highway 99 just north of downtown.
The challenge is getting sufficient fiber optic cable to the building. That could cost up to $450,000. The city council is considering applying for a state development grant to make it happen.
“You can see what we've done in the other communities,” Stadter said. “We're a good employer and we could be a nice addition to the work force [in Cottage Grove].”
Stadter says this is the third time his company has looked at Cottage Grove as a potential location for a call center. The first time he approached the city he had just one call center. Now he has four centers: two in Roseburg, one in Coos Bay and one in Grants Pass.
