Roseburg (KMTR) - The Roseburg School District says it may have to close one of its buildings because of budget cuts. After making $9 million in cuts the district is still in the red.A school board committee is recommending the district close Green or Rose Elementary schools, saying those closures would have the smallest effect on students and save the district money.
School superintendent Larry Parsons says nothing has been finalized.
“If we're forced to close a school, there's a timeline that's around our ability to get that done and we'll give the board a ‘drop-dead’ date by which they'll need to give their decision,” Parsons said.
The school board is not expected to make a final decision until it receives the district's financial report in December.
