EUGENE, Ore. (KMTR) –- A body discovered early Monday morning on an island in the Willamette River was recovered by the sheriff’s water rescue team. Employees of River Ridge Golf Course north of Eugene reported spotting the body across the river from the golf course. Investigators said it could be the man who was reported struggling while he was floating on an inner tube Sunday afternoon. Water rescuers were contacted for assistance, but the search was called off after no signs of the man were found.
John Miller of Lane County Search and Rescue said his team had planned to resume the search for the missing man on Monday.
The victim’s name has not been released.
